American star Kyrie Irving, the Dallas Mavericks player, surprised journalists today, Sunday, by appearing at the press conference that followed his team’s match against its rival, the Milwaukee Bucks, wearing the Palestinian keffiyeh as an expression of his solidarity with the residents of the Gaza Strip against the ongoing occupation attacks since the seventh of last month.
Kyrie Irving did not remove the keffiyeh until the end of his speech at the conference.
Although he did not say a word about Palestine or Gaza, his wearing the keffiyeh was understood as a message denouncing the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip, which has been under siege for 43 days.
I asked Kyrie Irving about bouncing back from a slow shooting start, leading to him scoring 18 points in the third quarter and 39 total against the Milwaukee Bucks:

In an interview he conducted last year, the Muslim basketball player explained his remarkable brilliance with his former team, the Brooklyn Nets, in one of the NBA matches, by saying that he was keen on fasting.
Irving added, “It’s a journey with God. I’m not alone in this, I have brothers and sisters all over the world who fast with me.”
He continued, “We adhere to our prayers and meditation, and when I come here, I feel that God is with me… God is with you… God is with us all, so I walk in faith, that’s all that matters.”
He concluded, “When I have the opportunity to do that on this field, and accurately display my talent that God has given me, I feel very grateful.”
