The president of the National Commission of Minimum Wages (Conasami), Luis Murguía, reported that there is still no consensus between employers, workers and the government on the salary increase for next year, since until November 30 is the deadline to receive all proposals and perform their technical analysis.
In his social networks, the president of Conasami highlighted that “the Technical Directorate of Conasami is making calculations of the range in which the minimum can be increased, taking into account inflation, the cost for companies, the impact on families, productivity, among other factors.
Likewise, he reported that Conasami normally receives between 5 and 10 proposals that must be analyzed and there is a deadline until November 30 to receive them, in that sense, he stressed that there is no consensus.
“The increase -he said- will be announced after that date, when there is consensus between the business sector, the labor sector and the government sector. None of the figures in the (communication) media is official, nor have they formally reached the Conasami Council for analysis.”
Will the increase have double digits?
Despite the fact that the Consami continues its time for the analysis of the increase in the minimum wage in the general area, in the area of the northern border and professional, the truth is that various sectors have demanded to maintain the salary recovery.
Alejandro Avilés, president of the Mexico City Labor Lawyers Association, commented that “the increase for 2023 must comply with what is stated in article 90 of the Federal Labor Law, since last year it established that the minimum wage cannot be lower than inflation”, so it would be expected that it would be by or less than two digits.
Coparmex, despite the fact that it has not yet delivered its formal proposal, has indicated in the voice of its president, José Medina Mora, that this increase could be 15 percent.
Meanwhile, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador recently said, during his work tour of Tamaulipas, that he will continue to increase the salary and days before he stated that it would depend on inflation.
The next meeting of Conasami, in which the analysis of the economy, employment and salary recovery will be presented, is expected to take place on the last Thursday of October.
