Not having the necessary votes, Morena in the Chamber of Deputies requested this Tuesday to postpone the vote on the electoral reform for a week, leaving open the possibility of seeking new agreements that allow her to endorse the opinion that maintains the initiative presented by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Deputy Ignacio Mier Velazco, coordinator of Morena in the Chamber of Deputies, indicated that his parliamentary group requested that the vote on the electoral reform in plenary session be postponed until December 6, “out of prudence” and at the request of some legislators, to analyze better the opinion.
The also president of the Political Coordination Board, argued that it is false that the postponement is due to a possible threat of the PVEM to condition this vote or seek to convince the PRI.
And it is that the coordinator of Morena rejected that they intend to “delay this opinion” or seek to convince the PRI, since they are aware of the position of rejection of this constitutional reform by the opposition will not change.
On the subject, the PT and PVEM described as “speculation” the information that their coalition Juntos Haremos Historia, has problems, after the postponement of the electoral reform.
Opposition rejects negotiation
The federal deputy and national president of the PRI, Alejandro Moreno, ruled that no matter what day or week it is, his parliamentary group will vote against the electoral reform proposed by Morena.
Meanwhile, Jorge Romero, coordinator of the PAN, demanded a more in-depth response to the postponement of the discussion and vote.
Luis Espinosa Cházaro, coordinator of the PRD, maintained that it was evident that there is a disagreement between the PT, PVEM and Morena, which today leads them to back down on something.
Compara Washington Post a AMLO con Trump
The Washington Post (TWP) published an editorial in which it compared President Andrés Manuel López Obrador with former President Donald Trump, in terms of the risk they pose to democracy in the United States and Mexico, respectively.
The comparison is based on the fact that both politicians claim to have been removed from the presidency through electoral fraud.
Already being president, Obrador continues to be “obsessed” with the events of 2006, the text specified.
The president’s proposals, he added, threaten the independence of the system and, with it, Mexico’s hard-won transition from authoritarianism to multiparty democracy.
