University of Tennessee women’s basketball player Ruby Whitehorn has been charged with aggravated burglary and domestic assault following her arrest on Friday, court records confirm.
According to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report, the arrest stemmed from a domestic dispute call. Whitehorn allegedly kicked in the front door and a bathroom door of a North Knox County residence after an argument with a woman Friday afternoon. The arrest warrant noted that no injuries were reported.
Whitehorn was released on bond Saturday and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
“We are aware of the situation and are continuing to gather additional information,” Eric Trainer, Tennessee’s associate director of women’s basketball, said in a statement.
A guard entering her senior year, Whitehorn started 28 games for the Lady Vols last season. In her first year with the team after transferring from Clemson, she averaged 11.6 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
