Austin Reaves has convinced the Lakers. As reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Los Angeles organization will be promoted to the guard trained at the University of Oklahoma from a two-way contract to a conventional contract for two seasons.
Reaves, who was not selected in the 2021 draft, lands in the Californian franchise after completing a four-year university period and averaging 18.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists in his senior year; numbers that he endorsed in the Las Vegas Summer League leaving a pleasant impression with 11.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals in 22.2 minutes per night.
With a contract that will be guaranteed in the 2021-22 season, Reaves becomes the 14th player in the Los Angeles squad with a guaranteed place for the campaign that begins in less than a month. Earning minutes in Frank Vogel’s rotation among an all-star cast led by LeBron James is in his hand, although it is very likely that he will have a greater presence in the G League.
