Dolores “Dodie” Osteen, the co-founder of Houston’s Lakewood Church and mother of Pastor Joel Osteen, has passed away at the age of 91.
Her son Joel and his wife, Victoria, announced her death in a statement, confirming she died peacefully of natural causes at her home. The family remembered her as a “cherished mother and grandmother” and the “beloved matriarch of Lakewood Church,” celebrating her life as “an inspiration to millions of people around the world, and a faithful servant of God.”
Affectionately known to the Lakewood community as “Mama Dodie,” she and her late husband, John Osteen, founded the church in 1959, establishing a lasting legacy.
