Lamar Odom hit out at backlash he received on social media — and the institution as a whole — for breathing new life into comments made about his ex Taraji P. Henson in 2019.
The former NBA star, 42, and recovering drug addict boldly called social media ‘worse than the most lethal drug’ after his name was smeared for a resurfaced interview.
In a clip from an episode of TV One’s show Uncensored making the rounds, Lamar had discussed how he left Henson, 51, for Khloe Kardashian, 37, which caused Twitter to light up.
Hitting back: After Lamar Odom, 42, found himself in hot water for resurfaced comments made about his ex Taraji P. Henson in 2019, he called social media ‘worse than the most lethal drug’ in a January 2 post; pictured 2019
In a January 2 post Odom called social media toxic, showed his love for Henson, and said that if the TV network was going to continue showing the interview he deserved royalties at the least.
The text accompanied a graphic which read: ‘I see the tabloids are clout chasing to gain followers, its 2022 cut the games!’
‘@theshaderoom @tvonetv @uncensoredtvone WHY is an interview from 2019 being shown and played? Where are my royalties since it seems as if I am in syndication. @tarajiphenson nothing but love for you always. Lets not feed the masses.

‘Social media is worse than the most lethal drug, we have become addicted to fake news, gossip, lies. We make negativity and violence trending topics, double edged sword. I’m going to continue to choose the high road, if you know me you know.’
In the resurfaced interview Odom had admitted to leaving the Empire actress (who he dated under the radar in 2009) for Khloe who he proposed to just weeks after they began their whirlwind romance.
Ultimately their relationship came to a halt in 2013 after his substance abuse issues which was documented on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
He revealed that he first met Henson at an HBO party and they ‘hit it off right away,’ adding that he ‘really, really started liking her’ and wished that he ‘would’ve done things different with her’ as he shared how he left her for the Good American founder.
Onto the next: ‘I didn’t know how to tell her that I was falling in love with another woman named Khloe Kardashian’ he said of the relationship’s end
Throwback interview: In the resurfaced interview from 2019 Odom had admitted to leaving the Empire actress (who he dated under the radar in 2009) for Khloe, and had discussed how in retrospect he mishandled the situation
‘Things ended with Taraji because of me being an immature punk,’ he said. ‘I didn’t know how to tell her that I was falling in love with another woman named Khloe Kardashian.’
In the interview he did sing the actress’ praises however: ‘She was a little older than me but I learned a lot from her because that was the most significant relationship as a grown-up that I had with a black woman.
‘I used to carry her picture on the road with me,’ he continued to reflect of his NBA days and credited her with inspiring him: ‘She gave me inspiration… a black woman working like that, that’s just as good at her craft as I am in my craft.’
Backlash: The revelation caused fans to go wild on Twitter, unleashing their thoughts about Lamar’s decision to move on to the reality TV star
Better off without him: ‘He did Taraji a favor. Her career/brand did not need that tomfoolery he had with him,’ wrote one
Hot take: Many people weren’t aware that Henson and Odom had ever dated, spurring one fan to tweet, ‘I wouldn’t have even told God lmao’
After his statements Twitter went into a tailspin, with users unleashing their thoughts about Lamar’s decision to move on in a less than ideal way with the reality star.
‘Taraji has done a really good job of not speaking about [Lamar], the least he could’ve done is returned the favor for doing her like this,’ one user said.
Someone else noted, ‘He did Taraji a favor. Her career/brand did not need that tomfoolery he had with him.’
