LiAngelo Ball, older brother to Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball and younger brother to Bulls guard, Lonzo Ball, might just be the new face of rap. Over a week ago, the former NBA player played a snippet from his new song during a stream with N3on. As soon as the clip went online, LiAngelo went viral all over the internet. People immediately started referring to his catchy hook and the words, “Swerve, bend that corner” were seen all over the internet.
While many claimed that this was nothing more than a fluke, record label Def Jam Recordings seems to think otherwise. As per various sources, Def Jam has signed LiAngelo Ball to a massive $8 million record deal following the success of his song “Tweaker”.
LiAngelo Ball’s New Song Has Taken Over the World of Sports
Ball’s song is repeatedly being played by athletes all over the NBA as noted by 76ers star, Paul George. Milwaukee Bucks guard, Damian Lillard who has also made music under the name Dame Dolla showed a lot of appreciation for LiAngelo’s new song. In case you don’t know, Ball was once an NBA player and spent a lot of time playing in the G-League.
However, Ball took his talents to the Mexican league after failing to get first-team opportunities in the NBA. Back when they were in Chino Hills, LaVar Ball always claimed that all three of his sons would be superstars one day. While LaMelo and Lonzo have made a name for themselves in the NBA, it seems like LiAngelo will be doing the same in the world of hip-hop.
At the time of writing, Ball’s new song has already crossed 5 million streams on Spotify and has amassed more than 6 million views on YouTube. If it continues this way, Tweaker might just end up becoming this year’s summer anthem. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of music LiAngelo Ball makes now that he has the backing of a label like Def Jam Recordings.

Fans noted that Ball’s flow and cadence remind them of rap music from the early 2000s. It is worth noting that Tweaker was released under the name of the Ball Brothers. Lonzo is said to have written the song along with LiAngelo. The latter also produced most of the track as revealed by Lonzo Ball himself. From the looks of it, LiAngelo Ball has given us the first viral track of 2025. He might give us many more now that he has backing from a record label.
