Lamine Yamal Issues Fiery El Clasico Challenge to Real Madrid

Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has intensified the rivalry ahead of Sunday’s El Clásico, taunting Real Madrid with a series of provocative social media posts that recall his team’s 4-0 victory last season.

The posts follow Yamal’s earlier comments accusing Real Madrid of “stealing and complaining,” a clear reference to the ongoing controversy surrounding refereeing in Spain’s top flight. His remarks have reportedly angered the Madrid squad.

To build anticipation for the match, Yamal first shared a video package that concluded with his personal quote: “I left my fear behind in Mataró Parc a long time ago.” He followed this with a more pointed jab, posting a photo of himself celebrating during last season’s decisive win at the Santiago Bernabéu, with frustrated Madrid fans visible in the background.

Yamal’s taunts echo recent statements from club president Joan Laporta, who has also stoked tensions. Both clubs frequently accuse each other of receiving preferential treatment from officials. Laporta recently suggested a “white hand” was involved in officiating after manager Hansi Flick was sent off in a previous game.

Laporta also renewed his criticism of Real Madrid’s in-house television network, accusing the channel of putting undue pressure on referees. “With what their television network is doing, they’re influencing the referees; it’s a strategy for winning that shouldn’t exist,” Laporta stated. “They can’t say the referees are hurting them or favoring Barça. We’re not playing the victim; we’ll try to win at the Bernabéu once again.”

He added that Barcelona’s opponents have “created an atmosphere around the refereeing team that is out of place.”
