The three-times-weekly route (Mondays, Fridays, Sundays) utilizes Airbus A320 aircraft with 174 seats across Premium Economy and Economy classes. It will also offer dedicated cargo and mail space, enhancing trade links alongside tourism. The initial two-month operation is a trial phase; permanent status depends on performance benchmarks being met.
Flight schedules:
- BOG to AUA: Departs Bogotá 10:10 AM, arrives Aruba 1:20 PM.
- AUA to BOG: Departs Aruba 2:35 PM, arrives Bogotá 3:55 PM.
“This expansion by LATAM signifies Aruba’s dedication to diversifying our tourism sector,” stated Mr. Wendrick Cicilia, Minister of Tourism, Transport, and Labor. “It promises greater stability, strengthens connectivity within Latin America, and unlocks vital economic opportunities for our nation.”
Tourism officials emphasized the strategic importance. “LATAM, with its extensive regional network, aligns perfectly with our focus on attracting high-value visitors and improving South American access, particularly from Colombia,” said Ronella Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority.
The new LATAM flights add competition and choice for travelers on the Bogotá-Aruba corridor, now served by Avianca and Wingo alongside LATAM.
Jo-Anne Arends, Aviation Business Development Executive at Aruba Airport Authority (A.A.A.), noted, “LATAM’s decision, following their successful Lima route, underscores confidence in Aruba’s appeal and our commitment to expanding air access.”
This direct connection is poised to stimulate vibrant tourism growth and reinforce economic ties between Colombia and the Caribbean island.
