LaVar Ball claims Bronny James should SKIP college basketball and head straight to playing professionally in Australia if he’s ‘really that dude’
Famed NBA dad LaVar Ball has stated that he believes Bronny James would be better served by going to play in professionally in Australia for a year rather than playing in college.
Ball’s youngest son, Charlotte Hornets All-Star LaMelo played overseas in Australia and has been the best of the three Ball brothers to play in the NFL.Â
The oldest of the Ball brothers Lonzo and middle brother LiAngelo both attended UCLA but neither’s NBA career has gone as planned. Lonzo is currently set to attempt to become the first player in NBA history to attempt to come back after undergoing a knee cartilage transplant, while LiAngelo has struggled to maintain even a G-League career.
‘It’s better [in Australia]. Why? Because you playing against grown men and you getting paid,’ LaVar told The Sporting News.Â
‘If you want to play basketball and you really that dude, why am I sitting in class trying to pass a chemistry test? I don’t want to play no chemistry. I don’t want to practice no Spanish.’Â

‘You’re going to have all these players in college trying to come out, [when] you can set your own stage across the water,’ Ball said.Â
‘You’re going to get the haters and the supporters, that’s what makes for filled-up gyms. A lot of people want to see LeBron’s son do good and a lot of them want to say ‘he can’t play against no grown men.’Â
James recently drew praise for his performance in the McDonald’s All-American game and drew both large amounts of praise, as well as comparisons to his father LeBron James.
As his senior year of high school comes to an end, time is also running out on him to decide where he will play basketball next, as college, overseas, and the G League all remain viable options.
According to The Oregonian, James has reduced his college options to a ‘top five or six,’ which includes the Buckeyes, plus Oregon and USC.
He was seen visiting Ohio State during their season opening football game vs Notre Dame, before posting pictures of himself in an Ohio State uniform shortly after.
While he still has two years to go before he could potentially make his NBA debut, there is a strong chance Bronny could suit up with his father in a league game seeing as LeBron has spoken multiple times about wanting to team up with his son.
