Lavrov: We do not hope for a change in Russian-American relations during the Biden term

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia does not hope for changes in Russian-American relations after Biden came to power, but Moscow remains open to an honest dialogue with Washington.

Speaking to the Russian Idea magazine, Lavrov said, “It seems to me that it is difficult to hope for any serious changes in the complex of bilateral relations after the Biden administration came to power. The prospects for developing cooperation do not stop only on us, but also on the American side. We are always open to dialogue.” The impartiality based on the principles of mutual respect and the balance of interests, and which aims to search for compromises. Lavrov expressed his hope that the United States would understand that “the most difficult contemporary issues, from arms control and the settlement of regional conflicts to the Coronavirus epidemic, can be solved by ensuring the unification or pooling of efforts and capabilities of the largest global players.”

He added, “In this sense, steady and predictable cooperation between Russia and the United States, as guarantors of international stability, conforms to the mutual interests and needs of the entire international community,” he added.
