(CNN) — A lawyer for actor Jonathan Majors has refuted a new report of abuse allegations by the Marvel star.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, Variety reported Wednesday that other alleged victims of abuse have come forward and are cooperating with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office after Majors was arrested and charged with assault and harassment charges in March following a dispute. home in New York.
When contacted by CNN on Wednesday night, a spokesman for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office declined to comment. CNN has been unable to independently confirm that more alleged victims have come forward.
“Jonathan Majors is innocent and has not abused anyone,” his lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, said in an emailed statement to CNN. “We have provided irrefutable evidence to the district attorney that the charges are false. We are confident that he will be fully exonerated.”
The March complaint against Majors does not name the accuser, but claims he struck her “in the face with an open hand, causing considerable pain and a laceration behind the ear.”
He also claims that he “put his hand on her neck, causing bruising and considerable pain.”
“Mr. Majors completely denies assaulting the woman,” Chaudhry told CNN in a statement last month. “At around 11 a.m. on March 25, 2023, Jonathan Majors called 911 concerned about the woman’s mental health. Police arrived with paramedics, as is standard procedure, and arrested Mr. Majors due to an NYPD protocol that requires arrest in certain circumstances.”
Her attorney also provided CNN with screenshots of messages to Majors allegedly sent by the woman, writing that investigators “do not have my blessing to pursue charges.”
Majors recently starred in “Creed III” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” He is scheduled to star in the lead role in the upcoming Marvel movie, “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.”
