Layda Sansores committed Gender Political Violence against PRI federal deputies: TEPJF

The Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF), by majority vote of the magistrates, declared Gender Political Violence (VPG) of the governor of Campeche, Layda Elena Sansores Sanroman, for boasting within her program “Martes del Jaguar”, the existence of intimate photographs of some federal deputies of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (AT).

Layda Sansores suggested that in order to access their positions, the PRI deputies should send these photographs to their national leader, Alejandro Moreno. These statements were taken up and disseminated by various media.

Dissatisfied, a PRI federal deputy went before the electoral Tribunal since it considered that the expressions of the governor exceeded free expression and constituted VPG.

The Superior Chamber, in a face-to-face public session, at the proposal of magistrate Felipe de la Mata Pizaña, determined that the governor’s demonstrations affected the political-electoral rights of the PRI federal deputies, in a context of VPG, since they affected the enjoyment and exercise of the position for which they were elected.

Therefore, the governor was ordered to eliminate all publications in which the denounced message is disseminated, both on her social networks and on those of the state government.

Similarly, he was ordered to refrain from commenting on the photographs of the deputies, as well as issue a public apology on the program “Martes del Jaguar” and on his account on the social network Twitter.

In this sense, the Superior Chamber considered that the Meta company, as well as its subsidiaries Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, must ensure that possible acts of VPG are addressed in Mexico.

Finally, the company Meta was ordered to expand its policies so that cases of GBV are detected, eliminated and reported, in order to denounce or, where appropriate, assist in the follow-up of complaints. Therefore, once these policies are in place, they must be publicly disclosed.
