Aerial footage shows the largest wireless telescope in the world, the “Fast” telescope with a spherical aperture of 500 meters in diameter, located in the southwest of the Chinese province of Guizhou.
The “Fast” is currently the only one in terms of type and size after the collapse of the American “Arecibo” telescope in Puerto Rico in early December.
Construction of the “FAST” telescope was completed in July 2016.
The telescope’s fixed plate is located 500 meters (1,640 feet) in diameter in the natural basin of the Daudang Depression and consists of 4,450 triangular plates that allow it to monitor radio frequencies between 70-3.0 MHz.
