LeBron James has told Twitter of his surprise at reports NBA referee Eric Lewis is being investigated for having a burner account that has been defended him on the social media platform.
Marc Stein has claimed the NBA are looking into the Twitter account @CuttliffBlair to find out if Lewis is behind it.
It was set up in November 2015 and in recent months appears to have only been responding to tweets about the referee, defending him from criticism.
It also follows six accounts at the time of writing – four NBA accounts, a Twitter user that has claimed Lewis is behind the account and George Mason Women’s Basketball team, where Lewis’s wife is the coach.
‘This Eric Lewis s*** true?’ James wrote on Twitter Saturday, using an emoji to replace the swear word.

Lewis has been an NBA referee for 18 season and has worked on over 1,000 games
The 38-year-old Lakers star James took to Twitter about Lewis on Saturday afternoon
On May 25, the account claimed it was being run by Lewis’s brother Mark.
In response to the Twitter account it follows who alleged Lewis is behind @CuttliffBlair, a tweet said: ‘This is MARK Lewis. Right family (older brother).
‘I’m sorry that I put E, in this situation, but this ain’t Watergate. You’re right, the account WILL be coming down. Twitter should not be this vindictive. Sorry to inconvenience you.’
The tweet had no evidence other than a denial to prove who exactly was behind the account.
Lewis has worked on over 1,000 regular season NBA games and 82 playoff games across a career spanning 18 years.
James, meanwhile, saw his season come to an end on Monday night when the Lakers were swept 4-0 by Denver Nuggets.
The 38-year-old, the leading points scorer in NBA history, scored 40 points in Monday’s game but the Lakers were beaten 113-111.
