LeBron James will NOT leave the Lakers anytime soon despite becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer – and he wants to stay in LA at least until his son Bronny is eligible for the draft in 2024
- Lebron James is set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season
- Lebron can sign an extension to stay in Los Angles anytime after Aug 4th
- Bronny must have one year removed from high school before he is draft eligible
- The younger James is currently the 34th ranked Highschool player in the nation
Lebron James is eligible to become a free agent after this season, however he remains committed to the Lakers despite being eliminated from the first round of the playoffs in 2021 and missing the playoffs all together in 2022.
James remains committed to the organization but would consider leaving in 2024 when his oldest son, 17-year-old Bronny James (Lebron James Jr.), becomes eligible for the NBA Draft, per Marc Stein
Bronny is currently a senior at Sierra Canyon high school and most recently played in the Peach Invitational where he averaged 17.8 points, 5.6 assists and 5.2 rebounds shooting 44% from three point range.

Lebron can sign an extension to stay in Los Angles anytime after Aug 4th and will likely take his time before signing either a one year extension or a two year extension with an opt out clause.
According to Stein, sources believe that LeBron and his family have become entrenched in Southern California since the family moved there in 2018.
Los Angeles has already made several key moves this offseason as they try to get back to the playoffs.

Most notably they have replaced former Head Coach Frank Vogel with first time head coach Darvin Ham.
LA has also lost Malik Monk through free agency and Carmelo Anthony is still unsigned after playing a key role last season.
More importantly, the Lakers have been reportedly searching for a trade partner to offload the salary of point guard Russell Westbrook.
The Lakers biggest move so far this offseason has been the change at head coach, while a deal to move on from Westbrook could be in the works
