Manager Marti Cifuentes will be without Burnley loanee Ramsey for an extended period after he suffered a “significant” hamstring injury against Millwall last weekend. Cifuentes confirmed the injury is “bad news” and that the player will be out for “some weeks.”
There is more positive news regarding Stephy Mavididi and Bobby Decordova-Reid, both of whom are expected to be involved after missing the last two squads. Cifuentes stated that Mavididi has been training well with the group for the past ten days and is “definitely ready.” Decordova-Reid has also recovered from a minor muscular issue and has rejoined team training, making him likely to be available for selection.
However, Jeremy Monga is a doubt due to sickness and will face a late medical assessment to determine his availability.
Looking ahead to their match against Blackburn Rovers, Cifuentes expressed his respect for the opposition, managed by the experienced Valerien Ismael. “They are flexible to play with a back four, a back three, and they have an experienced manager and players at Championship level,” he said.
With his team set for two consecutive home games, Cifuentes acknowledged fan frustration with their league position and issued a call for unity. “My mindset is I have huge respect for our opposition. I know the fans won’t be happy… We need to stay together. The players appreciate the supporters, and at this moment, we need them the most.”
