The Greek government, led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis since 2019, unveiled its new formation in its first amendment, which does not seem profound except for granting the governors a wider executive role.
And the new government spokesman, Jeristos Tarantilis, a former economist and lecturer at the University of Athens, announced that most of the amendments affected deputy ministers, with some ministerial portfolios assigned to new faces.
Among the ministries affected by the change are the Ministry of Energy and Environment, the ministries of labor and the interior, in addition to the Ministry of Agriculture, while the health and finance ministers and most of the main portfolios have been retained.
The American “Star Tribune” newspaper said that the culture portfolio was assigned for the first time to a well-known gay in the country with this tendency, Nicholas Yatromanoulakis, 44 years old.
These amendments to the Greek government come in a difficult circumstance that places it in front of difficult tasks to face the health crisis and its economic repercussions in a country that has been suffering from a deep financial crisis for several years.
