The latest reports on Tuesday from the National Weather Service reported that Hurricane Lisa was 110 km south of Chetumal, Quintana Roo, and due to this heavy rains are forecast in the states of Campeche, Chiapas, Veracruz, Tabasco and Quintana Roo; besides being very strong in Oaxaca and Yucatan.
In a statement, the authorities reported that Lisa had maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (km/h), gusts of 150 km/h and displacement to the west at 19 km/h.
The state authorities of Quintana Roo announced that classes in the central and southern zones were suspended for today, Thursday.
For its part, Civil Protection reported on the activation of 20 shelters in the municipalities of José María Morelos, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Bacalar and Chetumal. In Chiapas, the authorities indicated that there are 674 temporary shelters.
Mara Lezama, governor of the state of Quintana Roo, toured the risk areas in the municipality of Bacalar where she indicated that the Army and the Navy will implement two kitchens to provide care to the affected population.
