Carlos Alcaraz has four major objectives for the remainder of the year: the Paris Masters, the ATP Finals, the Davis Cup, and securing the year-end No. 1 ranking.
His primary rival for the top spot, Jannik Sinner, has seemingly conceded the race. “It’s impossible now. It’s not in my hands,” Sinner stated.
Despite his resignation, Sinner is well-positioned for the upcoming tournament in Paris, where he is not defending any ranking points. However, Alcaraz is in a similarly strong position, needing to defend only 100 points following his surprise early-round loss to Ugo Humbert at last year’s event.
With a current lead of 840 points in the rankings, Alcaraz’s path is clear. By reaching the final in Paris, he would gain 600 points, an amount sufficient to clinch the year-end No. 1 ranking, regardless of Sinner’s performance in both Paris and the subsequent ATP Finals in Turin.
