(CNN) — Lizzo responded to comments against her body.
In a series of messages on social networks that can only be seen by her followers, the singer responded to a tweet in which someone posted a video of Lizzo’s recent Tina Turner tribute performance on “Proud Mary” and commented on her weight.
“Just logged into the app and this is the kind of comments I see about myself on a daily basis,” Lizzo tweeted. “It’s really starting to make me hate the world. Then someone in the comments said I eat ‘a lot of fast food.’ I LITERALLY STOP EATING FAST FOOD YEARS AGO…”
She also shared a tweet that theorized that she was unwilling to lose weight because “it’s her brand.”
“I’m not trying to BE fat. I’m not trying to BE smaller,” Lizzo tweeted in response. “I’m literally just trying to live and be healthy. This is what my body looks like even when I’m eating really healthy and exercising!”
Then he added, “I HATE THIS.”
The Grammy Award-winning artist has spent her entire career fighting against “weight teasing” (which in English is known as fat shaming). And while many fans have been supportive of her, Lizzo harshly criticized her comments.
“Definitely love doesn’t outweigh hate on social media… all because I’m fat????” she tweeted. “This is crazy”.
She said she feels close to leaving the industry and reiterated that her weight has nothing to do with her brand.
“I have always led with my TALENT…”, he tweeted. “But when I released Good As Hell feel-good music was ‘cheesy’. When I released the pop record Juice it wasn’t ‘for them’. When I went body positive in 2016, being body positive was ‘indulging’! Now everyone’s on that vibe and I’m still a sh*t?! Wow, f*ck ’em all!”
