López Obrador governs with the “mallet of the right” and has failed in everything: Dante Delgado

The party’s national coordinator Citizen movement (MC), Dante Delgado Rannauroaffirmed that the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador calls itself leftist, but in reality it is governing “with the mallet of the right.”

“Because their vision of government is anchored to the past, because it clings to decisions that do not correspond to the construction of a welfare state, because the transformation that they started is regressive,” he asserted.

He affirmed that “the project headed by the president (López Obrador) has failed in everything because it is not possible to advance with a gaze fixed on the past. And that is what this government has done, cling to the past, decide thinking about the past, continue doing what was done in the past”.

Dante Delgado, former political and electoral ally of López Obradorstrongly criticized the actions of the current federal government in practically all areas.

He stated that the current federal government abandoned responsibilities and functions that correspond to the civil power and handed it over to the military; it ignored the climate crisis and invested in polluting energy, in addition to destroying the jungle; it minimized the feminist struggle, ignores it or represses it; and his economic policy is the same as that promoted by the last conservative governments, in addition to which – he said – the “social programs” are designed to strengthen an old patronage system that does nothing to change the reality of people.

“We are experiencing the restoration of presidentialism, the elimination of legislative checks and balances, a frontal battle with the judiciary, and an eagerness to weaken federalism. (…) The President of Mexico uses the anti-neoliberal discourse to silence, repress and undermine human and social rights that cost decades and lives to conquer”, he maintained.

Dante Delgado, whose party has been called by social organizations and by politicians from the PAN, PRI and PRD to join an opposition alliance for the 2023 elections and the 2024 presidential elections to confront Morena, assured that Movimiento Ciudadano is a social democrat and will celebrate in two months his Democratic National Conventionwhere the political exercise of the party for the coming years will be marked.

“Our path is clear: not to stay in the past, not to resort to the ways, the forms of the past, or the practices of the past. Our way is the ideas of the future, the alternatives of the future, the construction of the future.

“Staying anchored to the past means sacrificing the possibility of building a future and moving forward, which is why we have to keep talking about social democracy. And that is exactly what we do in Movimiento Ciudadano: think about the future, work for the future, build a future that is different from the present”, he referred.

Dante Delgado, also a senator of the Republic, inaugurated this Monday the international forum “The Future is Social Democratic”, organized by MC, in which figures such as Porfirio Muñoz Ledo, the former president of the IFE, José Woldenberg, participated; and Conny Reuter Global Coordinator of the Progressive Alliance, among others.
