Monta Ellis’s tour of seeking to return to the NBA has not yet come to an end. After attending exhibition workouts with the Rockets and Mavericks, the latest rumors point to an interest from the Los Angeles Lakers in adding the guard to their aging roster. Alder Almo has been in charge of break the news for Empire Sports Media, which is based on the good relationship that united Frank Vogel and Monta Ellis during their shared stay in Indiana.
The source is Derrius Nelson, the player’s representative who claims to have had conversations with Jordan Henriquez-Roberts, associate sports operations coach. The Los Angeles staff member would have been enthusiastic about the idea and is working on an alleged meeting between Vogel and Ellis. Although his return to the NBA sounds bizarre, Monta seems determined to undertake it once he left behind the psychological mishaps that made him leave in 2017. In fact, the 35-year-old veteran player declared not long ago that he was prepared to face four or five more than career.
