The Brooklyn Nets have closed a deal whereby they send DeAndre Jordan, four second-round picks and $ 5.78 million to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Jahlil Okafor and Sekou Doumbouya, journalist Adrian Wonarowski has reported.
The picks of the draft involved correspond to the second rounds of the Nets of 2022 and 2027, in addition to the second round of the Wizards or Grizzlies of 2024 (whichever is more favorable) and the second round of the Warriors or Wizards of 2025, also the most favorable, added the middle ESPN.
Both sources confirm that the Pistons’ plan is to close a buyout with Jordan, who has two years remaining on his contract and a total of approximately twenty million. For their part, the Nets will save up to $ 47 million in luxury tax fees with the exit of the center. In addition, New Yorkers receive a trade exception 6.3 million with this exchange.
As for the Pistons, they had traded their own second-round picks from 2022 to 2026 in previous deals, so this offers general manager Troy Weaver a chance to reclaim his cache of draft assets. In addition, the 5.78 million received will help cover part of Jordan’s salary. According to journalist Bobby Marks, the Pistons plan to cut Okafor.
