American actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus has refused to link her role in the popular comedy series “Veep” to the character of… US Vice President and Democratic Party Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris.
Louis-Dreyfus, during her appearance with Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show,” pointed out the big difference between Selina Meyer, the US Vice President in the series, and… Harris, noting that the former is a narcissistic, sociopathic, and paranoid woman, “she is not Kamala Harris.” She continued jokingly, “Maybe those qualities apply to another presidential candidate.”
The actress, who won seven Emmy Awards for Best Comedy Actress for her role in “Vice President,” limited the similarity between Meyer and Harris to the fact that both of them advanced from the position of Vice President to President of the United States of America, “and that’s where the similarities end.”
When asked about JD Vance -who chose it Republican candidate Donald Trump Vice President, Louis-Dreyfus said he reminds her ofJonah Ryan (Timony Simmons), who served as Meyer’s White House liaison on the series.
Ryan’s character in the series was characterized by his opportunism and thirst for power, which led him to the position of Vice President of the United States of America before he was impeached.
Harris became the talk of the American and international media after the withdrawal of President Joe Biden From the presidential race and his nomination of her to assume the position, noting that she was the first woman to assume the position of Vice President in the history of America in 2020, and she will be the first woman to assume the position of President if she wins against former President Trump in the elections next November.
After Harris’ nomination, “Vice President”‘s popularity soared, with viewership increasing 350% from the previous month, to which Louis-Dreyfus commented, “It’s a wild thing to watch, and I’m glad the audience is enjoying it.”
As for the series’ author, Armando Lanucci, he reminded viewers via his account on “X” – formerly “Twitter” – that the series is fictional. He reposted a follower’s post, commenting, “Let’s not forget that everything (the series’ events) are fictional.”
