Low endorsement of AMLO 6.1 points on his fourth anniversary of investiture

Four years after assuming power, an average of 59.1% of Mexicans approve of the performance of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador; His approval dropped 6.1 points compared to what it reached in 2021 (65.2%), three years after he took office.

The survey carried out by Mitofsky for El Economista on “approval of the Mexican president” reveals that, as of this November, on average 41% of citizens disapprove of his management, one point more than the previous month.

Compared to his five predecessors, López Obrador (59%) ranks third in presidential approval for the fourth year of government; the first and second places are for the PRI members Carlos Salinas (78%) and Ernesto Zedillo (64%).

The PAN members Vicente Fox (55%) and Felipe Calderón (54%) are in fourth and fifth place, and in the last the PRI member Enrique Peña Nieto (24%).

Regarding disapproval, the native president of Macuspana, Tabasco, is also placed on the third rung since 41% of citizens disagree with his government; the first is occupied by Peña Nieto (69%); Calderón (43%), the second; the fourth, Fox (40%), the fifth, Zedillo (30%) and Salinas (12%), the last.

Pending and approval by sectors

According to government indicators, for 64.5% of the 54,773 Mexicans over the age of 18 who were consulted, their main concern is insecurity; for 26.5%, the economy and 5.7% thought that health.

The highest presidential approval by type of occupation is registered among the peasants since 72% agree with their performance; students follow (71%), while 69% of housewives and the same percentage of informal workers also support it.

Among the 12 types of occupation measured, professionals (42%) are the ones who are least in agreement with the Tabasco.

By areas of government, the largest number of respondents (46%) said they approved López Obrador “a lot/quite a bit” in terms of “strengthening democracy.”

Regarding “attend to the Covid-19 emergency”, only 21% of citizens consider that the Mexican president did “a lot/enough” during his fourth year in office.

In the evaluation of the personal attributes of the President of Mexico, 55% of the citizens, the most, qualified their “relationship with Latin American countries” as “good”, and the least (20%) considered their “relationship with opposition political parties” to be good. .

While five out of 10 interviewees (52%) described López Obrador’s closeness to “social networks” as “a lot/something”, only two out of 10 (29%) considered the same range of approach with respect to “the parents of children with cancer.

By federal entity, it was in his native state where the largest number of citizens, on average, approved his government (Tabasco 79%) in the fourth year of the six-year term; Colima (43%) are the least in agreement with the work of the President of the Republic.
