LSU football went to work again in the transfer portal, securing a commitment from one of the top offensive linemen on the market.
Josh Thompson, a four-star Northwestern transfer, committed to LSU.
According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Thompson is the No. 46 ranked player in the transfer portal and immediately becomes one of the top additions to LSU’s class.
Offensive line is a position of need for LSU, with four starters moving onto the next level. Thompson helps fill that void.
According to PFF, Thompson did not allow a sack in 2024. His offensive grade of 74.9 ranked 12th among qualified Big Ten offensive linemen. He has two years of experience under his belt and has already proven to be a plus player in a major conference.
He projects to be an impact player at LSU and brings much-needed experience to the Tigers’ offensive line room.
Earlier in the week, Thompson was trending elsewhere. His commitment came as a welcome surprise for LSU fans.
Thompson was in high demand, and LSU beat out other top schools to land his services, including Tennessee and Ohio State.
Thompson is LSU’s second offensive line addition of the transfer season, as the Tigers added former Virginia Tech offensive lineman Braelin Moore last week.
