The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, instructed to discuss and present possible amendments to the constitution related to the republic’s abandonment of neutrality.
In a speech to the Assembly of the All-Belarusian People, Lukashenko added, “During this event, an important principled issue was touched upon, especially for the head of state. Military as well as civilians have offered to establish in the constitution an opposite principle of neutrality.”
And Lukashenko continued, “We, truth be told, did not follow an approach strictly related to impartiality, and therefore, most of the constitution was violated. Life changes and we are forced to adapt to it. We must discuss this issue with specialists and experts.”
The President of Belarus drew attention to the need to discuss the concept of national security for the country.
Lukashenko added: “With his discussion, we will reach constitutional changes in this regard.”
