(CNN) — Madonna is taking time to recover after suffering a health complication, so she will have to postpone at least part of her Celebration world tour, which was due to start in July.
In a post shared on his verified Instagram account, Guy Oseary, Madonna’s longtime manager, reported that the 64-year-old singer “developed a serious bacterial infection that led to several days in the intensive care unit” since Saturday.
“His health is improving. However, he remains under medical care. A full recovery is expected,” Oseary continued.
“Right now we need to suspend all commitments, including the tour,” he added. “We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new tour start date for the rescheduled concerts.”
Madonna’s tour, titled Celebration, was scheduled to kick off on July 15 in Vancouver, Canada, followed by two dates in Seattle starting on July 18. Concerts would continue across the United States and Canada through early October, before heading to Europe.
Madonna also had additional US dates in December and January, followed by four concerts in Mexico City.
