Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro declared that Venezuela will not conclude any deals with the European Union if it does not back down from its sanctions policy towards Caracas.
On Wednesday, Maduro said, “They are interfering in internal affairs, and what are they waiting for? To thank them for attacking us? No. We were looking for dialogue and we took important steps to restore dialogue between the opposition and Chavism.”

The Venezuelan President warned the European Union: “You must correct your course, or there will be no deal with you or any kind of dialogue, so that you know, gentlemen from the European Union, that Venezuela knows how to respond to threats, whatever their source.”
This comes against the backdrop of the European Union’s expansion of sanctions against Venezuelan officials, whom Brussels accuses of “undermining democracy” in Venezuela.
In response, Venezuela expelled the European Union’s ambassador to the country and summoned the ambassadors of 4 European countries to hand them protest notes over the sanctions.
