Man, 37, is arrested after Tesco shopper was ‘stabbed’ during a mass brawl at supermarket branch

A man has been arrested after a shopper was reportedly stabbed and suffered serious injuries during a mass brawl at a Tesco store. 

Emergency services rushed to the supermarket’s Meir Park branch in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, at 2.05pm on Friday, December 30. 

Staffordshire Police cordoned off a section of the car park for a number of hours as part of their investigations.

A 37-year-old Stoke-on-Trent man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

Two men, one in his 20s with facial injuries and one in his 40s with arm and knee injuries, were taken to hospital.

An ambulance service spokesman said: ‘We were called to reports of a stabbing on Lysander Road, Meir Park. One ambulance, a paramedic officer, and the Midlands Air Ambulance critical care car from Cosford attended the scene.

‘Upon arrival we found a man with serious injuries. He received treatment at the scene and was conveyed to hospital for further assessment.’
