The unusual occurrence led to rival fans suggesting the account was suspended because they were only founded in 2009 and are too young to be on the site.
One Twitter user wrote: ‘Man City’s twitter account has disappeared. I’m pretty sure you have to be 13 to have a twitter account so guessing that’s why.’
While others saw it as an opportunity to make fun of City’s poor record in the Champions League, writing: ‘Man city have been bagged more times (1) than they have UCL final appearances (0) in their entire history.’
Another said: ‘Man City have had there Offical account suspended more times (1) then they have reached a ucl final (0).’
