Manchester United ‘in concrete talks with AC Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu’ over a free transfer next summer with Turkish ace so desperate to move to Old Trafford he ‘rejected a contract offer from Juventus’
- Hakan Calhanoglu will see his AC Milan contract expire next summer
- Manchester United and Juventus both keen to sign the playmaker on a free
- Milan though are still hopeful of tying him down to a new deal at the San Siro
- But Turkey international would be able to sign a United contract in JanuaryÂ
Manchester United are reportedly in deep discussions with Hakan Calhanoglu over signing the AC Milan star on a free transfer next summer.
The attacking midfielder has been integral to the Italian side since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2017 for £21million but is out of contract at the end of the season.
According to Bild, the Turkey international is already holding talks over a move to Old Trafford, being so keen on the opportunity that he has even rejected a contract offer from Juventus.
Hakan Calhanoglu is reportedly in talks with Manchester United over a free transfer next year
However his current club Milan are not willing to let him go easily and are still trying to convince the 26-year-old to stay at the San Siro.
Calhanoglu though is increasingly looking likely to leave though with the Italian side’s offer of £2.8million (£54,000-a- week) deemed not good enough, helping draw attention from clubs like United and Juve.Â
United are thought to be keen on offering him an improved deal over five years.

The Turkey international has reportedly already turned down an offer from Juventus
Although Milan’s offer is falling short of his demands, Calhanoglu wants to stay with the club but they only have until January to get a new deal sorted until overseas outfits such as United can start offering terms to sign a contract starting next summer on a free transfer.Â
The contract row does not appear to be harming the playmaker’s form too badly though having started the season with four goals and assists from his first eight games in all competitions.
His record since moving to Italy in 2017 has been impressive with his 127 games seeing him score 27 times and provide 40 assists.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still keen to bolster his attacking options at Old Trafford
They are qualities United are desperate to add to their team following a failed pursuit of Jadon Sancho in the previous transfer window.
United have been criticised over their recent approach in the market, having failed to find a starting spot for £40million summer signing Donny van de Beek.
Although the possible arrival of Calhanoglu would reflect on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side getting their business done early it would leave questions over where he too would fit in a United midfield alongside Bruno Fernandes – who he plays a similar role too – and would make record signing Paul Pogba’s future at United also unclear.Â
