An amazing performance against Seville, and his brilliance against Atletico Madrid. Speed, skill, and scoring goals turned Englishman Mason Greenwood, the outcast of Manchester United, into a star in the Spanish Football League, specifically with his team Getafe.
Greenwood contributed effectively to Getafe’s deadly 3-3 draw with Atletico Madrid in the 18th round of La Liga.

Greenwood’s numbers against Atleti indicate that he has regained his previous promising level as one of the best talents in Europe:
- 83% pass success rate.
- An 80% percentage of completed dribbles or movements in which one of them resulted in a handball in the last moments awarded a penalty kick to Getafe and resulted in the equalizer.

Antoine Griezmann, the Atletico Madrid star, admitted – in television statements after the match – that “Greenwood caused us problems during the match.”
He added, “The second half was a witness to his remarkable appearance, as he cost us a draw.”
The young Englishman now has clear importance in the team, as he has already become a key player and contributed to 9 of the 24 goals scored by Getafe in La Liga.
Do you know insane it is for a player to not play for 2 years just to come back and drop performances like this

Greenwood (22 years old) grabbed a starting place in the seventh round of the tournament, and from that moment on, he became a key piece in the squad of Spanish coach Jose Bordalas.
Greenwood attracted great attention to himself in just 109 days, as he participated in 15 matches in all competitions, during which he scored 5 goals and provided 4 assists.
Bordalas said about the former England international, “He was wonderful. I expected that from the first day. He is a skilled player and will reach his best levels little by little. We treated him really well.”

Greenwood’s adaptation to Getafe’s atmosphere became a reality and he became one of the group, to the point that Getafe and the Manufacturers began considering the possibility of extending the loan contract for an additional year or including him permanently.
The Spanish newspaper “Marca” reported a few days ago that Getafe wants to sign Greenwood.
Greenwood – who has been out of action since January 2022 – joined Getafe last summer for one season on loan from the English team, after being involved in several ethical issues.
Despite his judicial acquittal, the English club preferred not to return to the club after internal investigations that lasted 6 months following his release from prison.
