It was only a matter of time before Manu Ginobili was again related to the day-to-day running of the Spurs in some way. The relationship that the franchise, its members and the Argentine player shared for 16 seasons is one of those that lasts a lifetime. And now the Texas organization has made it official that Ginobili will be its special advisor for sports operations. Adrian wojnarowski advance that his role will be closely related to player development. Both on and off the track.
Although his return was expected, Manu has been made to beg. Apparently, the intention of the franchise was that, as it did with Duncan, Ginobili began to be part of the Spurs organization chart immediately after hanging up his boots. Or at least that was the idea of Gregg Popovich, RC Bufford and general manager Brian Wright, who have been pushing since 2018 for this to happen.
In his more than three decades in San Antonio, Manu Ginobili achieved four champion rings, two All-Star appearances and a future corner in the Hall of Fame. Now he will dedicate himself to continue teaching, although he still has the thorn of not being able to do it under the spotlights and on the parquet.
