Mara Lezama builds a new inclusive tourism model, with community benefits

Chetumal.- Quintana Roo is shining in terms of tourism with record passenger numbers, more than 1,131 cruise ships received and an average of 500 daily operations in recent weeks, exceeding figures from 2019, prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, with full economic activation that seeks to bring well-being and shared prosperity to each of the homes.

The dynamism that the entity has today, with the work of Mara Lezama, is reflected in the cruise activity that during the week of November 14 to 20 will register 26 operations at the docks of Cozumel, according to the Integral Port Administration. (Apiqroo).

Regarding the movement of cruise ships, they expect to exceed the 2019 figures of 1,350, since they have registered operations this year of more than 1,131 ships that arrive in Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mahahual.

Quintana Roo generates almost 50% of the income that Mexico registers for this activity, which reflects the importance of tourism. The transformation government headed by Mara Lezama – hand in hand with the Government of Mexico – promotes sustainable and sustainable tourism development, through the New Agreement for Well-being and Development.

It should be noted that the State Secretary of Tourism (Sedetur) reports that from January to August of this year there has been an influx of more than 13 million tourists, who visit various destinations in the State and now with greater momentum in the south of the state.

As for airport operations, from November 1 to 11, more than 5,800 operations were registered in Benito Juárez, so far this year the Cancun International Airport has exceeded 24 million passengers mobilized and it is expected to close 2022 with a figure of more than 26 million.

In the same period, the Cozumel airport reached 144 operations while the Chetumal airport had 40.

Among the objectives set by Mara Lezama for this government of profound transformation is to build an inclusive tourism development model, based on economic profitability, the preservation of ecosystems and social equity.
