Marcelo Ebrard and Antony Blinken address bilateral relationship

Prior to United States-Mexico High-Level Security Dialogue In Washington, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, and the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, held a private meeting to address the bilateral relationship.

The Mexican Foreign Ministry announced that Ebrard highlighted the progress in confiscating weapons, so he asked to intensify this work given that a good part of the transfer of weapons is concentrated in 10 counties in the United States.

On the migration issue, he recalled the vision of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador that “migration must be addressed in its causes.”

According to Daniel Millán, head of the Office of the Foreign Minister and who was present at the two-way meeting, The importance of advancing in manufacturing in Mexico and North America for the construction of car batteries, essential for the transition of the automotive industry to electric power, was also discussed.

“Our strong partnership with Mexico helps make communities in both countries safer and more prosperous. In our meeting today, Marcelo Ebrard and I reaffirm our commitment to promote the United States-Mexico Bicentennial Framework for Security, Public Health, and Secure Communities,” Blinken wrote on his Twitter account.

Present at the meeting on the Mexican side were: the Mexican ambassador to the United States, Esteban Moctezuma; the Head of the North American Unit of the SRE, Roberto Velazco; María de Haas, General Director of Special Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador Ana Luisa Fajer.
