The Arms Control Association of America announced the nomination of the Government of Mexico and the Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon, among the eight people and institutions proposed to receive recognition for Arms Control in 2021.
The consideration arises after the civil lawsuit filed on August 4, through the Secretary of Foreign Relations, for damages before a US federal court, against companies that manufacture and distribute weapons in that country.
The lawsuit alleges that several major firearms manufacturers and wholesalers “design, market, distribute and sell guns in a way that they know they routinely arm. drug cartels in Mexico”, And that contributes to a decrease in life expectancy in Mexico.
It notes that the named companies sell about 340,000 of an estimated half a million guns that flow illegally each year from “Massachusetts and other US states to criminals south of the border.”
I am grateful to the United States Arms Control Association for the nomination for the annual recognition they grant for the lawsuit filed by our country against the arms industry that facilitates and promotes violence, “wrote the Chancellor on his social networks.
