It has been a topic of debate for quite some time. Kristaps Porzingis came to Dallas as a great move to complement Luka Doncic, but for one reason or another, the truth is that doubts have been placed on the Latvian player; so much so that rumors about his possible transfer has become a constant.
On this subject, Mark Cuban was questioned in an interview with NBA.com, in which the owner of the Dallas Mavericks completely ruled out that at some point they had considered transferring Kristaps Porzingis.
“It is not true. Why would we do that? In exchanges like that, you always end up losing. When you switch to a superstar, you are never the one who gets the best result. I’ve always believed that KP hasn’t played his best basketball yet. Now you’re seeing why we don’t change it. Is a great player. He’s a nice guy. All my experiences with him have been positive, so… why would we do that? But that’s what’s on Twitter talking about the NBA and the Mavs. That’s what they do. They are probably trying to transfer Luka right now, ”he says.
Of course, it is a good time to defend not having transferred him. In the last seven games the Latvian player averages 26 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 blocks with 53.4% from field goals; numbers that practically lead us to affirm that he is at his best since he arrived at the Texas franchise.
In any case, it is hard to believe that the possibility of an exchange has not been explored in the office at this time, especially since Doncic’s emergence forces us to look for any formula to improve what surrounds him. Cuban is right to rule out such an option; in fact, it is something that he had already done on previous occasions. You will always be in time to change your mind. Meanwhile, seeing Porzingis at a high level is fantastic news for his fans.
