Sydney (Australia), Sep 29 (.).- The Spanish Minister of Commerce, Tourism and Industry, Reyes Maroto, indicated this Thursday that Spain wants to attract Australian investment in strategic sectors such as microchips or cutting-edge health.
Maroto, who is visiting Australia from Wednesday to Friday this week, will meet tomorrow in Sydney with officials from Australian investment funds Australian Super, IMF and Macquarie Group.
In a country with a significant presence of Spanish companies in various sectors, the minister told Efe that she will explain to investors “what are the priorities and opportunities of the Government of Spain”, as well as the “large strategic projects” to boost their bets business.
Maroto cited large strategic projects such as the development of microchips, cutting-edge health, as well as those linked to the agri-food value chain or the naval industry.
These sectors are part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PERTE) of the Government of Pedro Sánchez, through which it is intended to mobilize 140,000 million euros in European funds until 2026.
“Australian funds can find many projects to invest in and to reinforce that public investment” and, at the same time, that these business bets by Australian funds in Spain serve as a “private attraction lever”, the minister said.
In addition, Spain presents itself to Australian funds as a “hub” or “investment platform” not only for them to access the Twenty-seven market but also to “invest in markets such as Latin America and even Africa,” Maroto said.
Australian investment in Spain last year was around 5,740 million euros, compared to the 1,600 euros invested by the Spanish in Australia, especially in the infrastructure, energy and resources sectors, the executive director of the Australian European Business Council said today. JasonCollins.
These Australian investments in Spain had significant growth in the real estate, medical services and telecommunications sectors, Collins added at an Australian Spanish Business Meeting, which brought Maroto together with Spanish and Australian businessmen and executives in Sydney.
