“Biden will be very busy removing the remaining rubble from Trump,” Maas wrote in a tweet on Monday, “We are ready to actively support that, especially with regard to the Biden initiative – the coalition of democracies – which is fully consistent with our initiative, which is the Alliance for Multilateralism. ” The head of the German diplomacy stressed that the Biden administration gets rid of the consequences of Trump’s approach that serves the interests of all European countries.
In an interview with NTV, Maas, who is currently in Cairo, where he is discussing the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with his Egyptian, Jordanian and French counterparts, stated that the United States’ overcoming its internal problems “is a condition for its return as soon as possible to the international arena, as a responsible party.”
The German minister indicated that the purpose of his visit to Egypt is to seek to organize direct Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, explaining that he and the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and France have made intensive efforts in recent months to build dialogue channels between the Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority.
In this regard, Maas expressed his hope that the arrival of the new American administration to the White House would give new impetus to this process. He added, “It is imperative to settle the conflict in the Middle East today, because this will create the conditions for effectively resolving other conflicts in the region.”
