Comedian Dave Chappelle got into a heated altercation with a Texas-based actor who says the funnyman is a hypocrite for being an avid mask enforcer, but not wearing a mask himself.
In an exclusive interview Chad Laboy, 31, told DailyMail.com about his unpleasant encounter with Chappelle at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin last month, that started when one of Laboy’s friends approached the comedian without a mask.
Laboy says he was at the hotel bar celebrating his engagement with his fiancée, Carlos Torres, and a few friends when Chappelle and his entourage got agitated and stormed over to his table – also without wearing masks, putting their health at risk.
Laboy said, ‘Chappelle is a hypocrite for not wearing a mask.’

Chappelle was in the Texas city doing what was billed as a socially-distant live comedy show on November 16, 17, 18.
Laboy, a part time actor who appeared in Kelly Clarkson’s Heartbeat music video, said the incident with Chappelle began when his friend walked over to Chappelle’s table to say ‘hi.’
‘My friend didn’t have her mask on when she walked over to his table and rightly so, they chastised her for it,’ added Laboy.
‘She apologized and offered to put her mask on, but continued to get berated. No one at their table was wearing a mask, but the group was extremely rude, saying things like, ”we don’t know you”, ”get the fu*k away”, and began calling her names.’
Laboy’s fiancée Torres, 22, shouted back at them to quit talking to their friend in such a rude manner.
That’s when things took a turn for the worse, according to Laboy.
As soon as Carlos defended their female friend a member of Chappelle’s group thought Laboy was filming them from a distance and yelled out, ‘he’s taping us.’
‘Suddenly, all the attention was on me and I tried to explain that I was just holding my phone, but they wouldn’t listen. A man wearing all black shouted over at me to stop recording,’ he added.
Laboy said that within seconds, Chappelle and six of his crew came storming over to their table without wearing masks. .
It was then he decided for his own personal safety, Laboy said, to hit record on his phone and tape the confrontation.
Laboy said he heard sirens blazing with approximately five police cars pulling up to the Four Seasons hotel and within minutes they were surrounded by Austin PD
In the recorded confrontation, Chappelle is heard saying, ‘No disrespect, he’s recording me and she’s violating my personal space.’
Someone yelled from his entourage, ‘Shut the fu*k up.’
‘Chappelle then told a women in his party to ”put your claws back in.”’
Laboy said at first Chappelle tried to deescalate the situation, but members of his entourage were acting unruly.
Laboy said he is going to be filing a police report against the person in Chappelle’s entourage who attempted to take his camera
One guy in his group was pushing Laboy and attempted to grab his phone to erase the video.
After some more back and forth, Chappelle then said ‘We aren’t doing nothing violent, bye, bye.’
‘A Four Seasons Security Guard approached and I ended the video thinking that we would be treated fairly and he would calm this angry mob. Quite the opposite happened. The security guard didn’t ask us any questions or allow us the opportunity to tell our side of the story. Instead, he sided with Dave Chappelle and his group. He told us that we all had to leave the premises,’ Laboy said.
‘But before we got up from our table to leave, Chappelle came back, still without a mask on and leaned over and said to each one of us, while pointing his finger, ‘You a bi**h a** n****a’.
Laboy said Chappelle repeated that to them four times. ‘We were all in shock!’ he said.
As they walked out of the hotel Chappelle and his group reportedly began screaming about the video footage they had. ‘Hotel security told me I had to delete my footage but I refused,’ said Laboy.
After Laboy refused to delete the footage he says the security guard started to push him toward the front door and told him he had to leave immediately.
They were escorted out the front door in the valet area of the hotel. Laboy said they sat there for a few minutes trying to process what just happened.
‘We looked up and all of a sudden we see Chappelle and his group coming out of the hotel and they approached, again without any of them wearing a mask. A female in Chappelle’s group told my friend we needed to delete the video. When she didn’t comply with her demands, she called her a ”fu**ing c**t.”
‘Then we heard sirens blazing with approximately five police cars pulling up to the Four Seasons hotel and within minutes we were surrounded by Austin PD.
‘We told the police our side of the story and after several minutes we were told by Austin PD that the Four Seasons management was giving us all a trespass warning for a full year and we could not return to the hotel during that time or we would be arrested,’ said Laboy.
No arrests were made on either side.

Laboy said he was shocked the hotel security didn’t say anything to Chappelle about not wearing a mask.

Chappelle is well-known as being a stickler for mask-wearing.
At his outdoor shows in Yellow Springs, Ohio over the summer, everyone who came to see him had to get their temperature checked, wash their hands, and wear an N-95 mask at all times.
When Chappelle hosted SNL in early November, in his monologue he joked about why white people don’t wear masks.
‘I don’t know why poor white people don’t like to wear masks. What’s the problem? You wear a mask at the Klan rally. Wear it at the Walmart too,’ said Chappelle.
Even at his shows, patrons are given a rapid COVID-19 test upon entrance and are required to wear a mask at all times.
‘He takes all of these precautions when he could be exposed but obviously doesn’t care about potentially exposing other people, he’s reckless,’ added Laboy.
Laboy recently had a COVID-19 test after his encounter with Chappelle and he is thankful he came back negative.
This comes as Netflix pulled the Chappelle’s Show from their platform at Chappelle’s request.
During a stand-up special, which the 47-year-old shared on social media last week, he explained why he was ‘furious’ to learn that it was being streamed, as well as his reasoning to have his most famous work pulled off the popular service.
Netflix obliged and Chappelle’s Show fans will no longer be able to stream the iconic sketch series – which originally ran on Comedy Central.

He thinks Chappelle needs to practice what he preaches.
‘Chappelle and his group accosted me and my friends on two occasions and none of them were wearing a mask. They put our health at risks. ‘
‘Chappelle is a hypocrite. When you go to his comedy show, everyone is required to wear a mask at all times and you have to take a rapid COVID-19 test upon entering the venue.
‘But I guess the same rules don’t apply to Chappelle and his crew as they do to everyone else.
‘He’s all talk about everyone else wearing a mask but he doesn’t.’
Laboy said he is going to be filing a police report against the person in Chappelle’s entourage who attempted to take his camera and is contemplating further legal action.
