Massive spider jumps onto a man in Northern Queensland

A massive huntsman has jumped onto an unsuspecting father while his young daughter watched on in horror.    

Metui Tongatua, was driving a quad bike down a deserted road in North Queensland with his two dogs and daughter in the back trailer on Sunday, March 28. 

He spotted the large spider crawling down the vehicle’s handlebars and started filming when it suddenly launched itself at him.

Metui from Maningrida in the Northern Territory, jumped backwards in surprise and began to yell as he tried to brush off the spider. 

Arachnologist Dr Robert Raven from the Queensland Museum, said the vibrations from the quad bike attract spiders at a ‘rocket speed’.

‘We don’t know why but spiders will cover your tyres and become stirred up from the engine creating the deep vibrations,’ he told Daily Mail Australia. 

He said spiders will gather and behave erratically if the vehicle is an older model and runs on diesel.  

The footage, posted on Facebook, left viewers horrified at the encounter. 

‘Freaking aggressive spider there,’ one woman said. 

‘I would have died on the spot,’ another commented.  

‘My worst nightmare, I would have sold my bike’, another said.
