Days after Paramount Media Networks head Chris McCarthy confirmed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that McConaughey will star in a “Yellowstone” spin-off, a conversation on a podcast gave us some insight into what McConaughey is currently thinking about. his career.

Dax Shepard spoke with the Oscar-winning actor on a new episode of “Armchair Expert” and asked him about his career after writing his memoirs in recent years.

“Now I’m interested in playing another character on a television series, because the last four years have been about culmination, writing, putting all these things together and devoting myself more to public service,” McConaughey explained. “The idea of ​​acting in these types of roles, in the right movie or series at every moment sounds like an incredible vacation.”

“I will be a different or improved actor on my own merit after these last three years,” the “Dallas Buyers Club” star said, adding that his decision to step away from acting to focus on other projects has not “been in vain. “.

“I have a lot of respect for the calling of acting,” McConaughey said. “I think I have a healthier relationship. I don’t do it to survive and thrive. I think good acting imitates life. Real life is where these things come from.”

After Kevin Costner left “Yellowstone,” McConaughey was back in the spotlight when it was reported that he might join the series.

“We have no news to report,” a Paramount spokesperson told CNN in a statement at the time.
