Today, media outlets reported that a woman was killed by a bullet during the security forces dispersal of a demonstration held in the city of Monywa, central Myanmar, to protest the military coup in the country.
Reuters indicated that news of the incident was reported by at least three local media outlets, while the police refused to comment on the matter.
Earlier in the day, one of the demonstrators told “Reuters” that the police used water cannons against the protesters in the city.
Media reports confirmed that demonstrations were organized today in other cities as well, including the country’s two largest cities, Yangon and Mandalay, in addition to the southern city of Dawei, indicating that the security services used force to disperse the protesters, including rubber bullets, tear gas, light and sound bombs and water cannons.

Despite the insistence of the military authority, which came to power as a result of the coup, that the security services should not use the least degree of force in their dealings with the protesters, at least three demonstrators have already been killed since the beginning of the continuous wave of protests, and the police announced the death of one of its members.
The situation in Myanmar became more tense, with reports that the detained leader, President of the National League for Democracy, Aung San Suu Kyi, was taken to an unknown destination from her home in the capital Naypyidaw, where she had been under house arrest since the coup.
Suu Kyi was at the helm of the senior officials who were arrested by the military coup when they seized power in early February, claiming that the results of the elections that took place in November were rigged and won by the National League for Democracy.
