Megacable will invest 75 million dollars in Monterrey

The telecommunications company Megacable Holdings announced an investment of 1,500 million pesos, about 75.2 million dollars, for the construction of infrastructure that allows it to expand operations in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León.

Megacable’s investment for the Monterrey market is equivalent to 22.5% of the national income reported by this company for the second quarter of the year, about 6,683 million pesos, and is also equal to 54% of the resources directed to the deployment and maintenance of networks in the same period, around 2,797 million pesos raised by the company between last April and June.

Megacable committed to the creation of 1,200 direct jobs and another 350 indirect jobs in Monterrey with this investment.

The company already offered its services in the markets of Escobedo, Guadalupe, Apodaca and some areas of the municipality of Monterrey.

In those regions, Megacable provided coverage to 240,000 homes with a 1,600-kilometer network.

With the investment of 1,500 million pesos, the company said it will build 4,500 kilometers of fiber optic networks to cover up to 70% of the Monterrey metropolitan area.

Data from Federal Telecommunications Institute indicate that in Nuevo León, the company Megacable has 0.6% of residential fixed voice lines and 5.7% of non-residential lines.

At the state level, Megacable has 0.68% of the pay television market and 073% in fixed broadband accesses, all as of the last quarter of 2021.
