Two months following the start, Strickland applauded the device in his condition of the city address, boasting the crew was responsible for 566 arrests concerning Oct 2021 and Jan. 23, 2022.

In surveillance footage, officers included in the killing of Nichols appear to be putting on “quasi military-sort uniforms” fairly than usual police uniforms, and some of their automobiles seem to be unmarked, Stinson claimed.
If officers are in plainclothes or use unmarked cars, they “may well feel they have cover of anonymity in purchase to carry out misdeeds,” said Keith Taylor, adjunct assistant professor at the John Jay College or university of Criminal Justice.
Specialised units may possibly come to feel ‘untouchable’ and have to have additional supervision, gurus say

Taylor, a previous New York Police Section assistant commissioner, said specialized models are necessary in some conditions, but want to be supervised thoroughly. “When you don’t have the supervision, you can have deadly repercussions.”
Hans Menos of the California-primarily based Centre for Policing Equity also stated the SCORPION team may have been performing with small oversight and targeting communities of color.
Memphis Police Director Cerelyn “CJ” Davis acknowledged the police office has a supervisor lack and reported metropolis officials have pledged to provide far more of them.
