No one is going to discover Memphis now. The Tennessee organization surprised two years ago, consolidated the past as a playoff team (play-in through) and now wants to take one more step to establish itself in the elite of the Western Conference. They go down the road.
Last night they beat the Clippers at the Staples Center to add two victories in as many games, and to achieve it they first came back and later they knew how to withstand the push of the rival. Because the Angelenos never gave their arm to twist. Despite being 10 points down midway through the fourth quarter, they pushed to just two points in the final moments. It was there that the Grizzlies showed what they are made of to close the night with a triple by Jaren Jackson Jr., assisted by Ja Morant.
The youth of Memphis were at a high level. The point guard went to 28 points and eight assists, while the power forward contributed 21 points and 7 rebounds. Nor did De’Anthony Melton miss the party with 22 points. The reality is that the entire quintet scored in double figures to reach a total of 107 points (the bench scored 13). Jackson Jr. was delighted after the win.
“You can feel the crowd getting sick. It’s a good feeling, “he says of his final basket before emphasizing that” closing this was a very good thing, especially on the road.
Clippers: two games and two losses
Californians have not started well. They had the best season in their history last year, reaching the Western Conference finals, but now they are having a hard time getting going. Against the Grizzlies they fought while Paul George multiplied to go up to 41 points and 10 rebounds. It was insufficient. They ended up biting the dust and the only satisfaction was that they left everything on the floor.
«I am happy because we have fought, but it is clear that we cannot remain alone in that. You can only feel happy that you played hard, but playing hard should always happen. We have to win games, ”concludes the star of the team led by Tyronne Lue.
