Lionel Messi continued to write history with his Barcelona team, and set a new record, after participating in the Huesca match, on Sunday, for the 17th week of the Spanish Football League “LaLiga”.
Messi was a key player in the match, which ended with the victory of the Catalan team with no response, and the “Opta” statistics network stated that this is Messi’s 500th match for Barcelona in the Spanish League.
She added that Messi became the first non-Spanish player to reach 500 matches in the history of the “LaLiga”.
In general, Messi became the third most-used player in the Spanish League, after Spaniards Xavi Hernandez (505 matches) and goalkeeper Andoni Zubisarreta (622 games).
Messi, 33, has played 750 matches for Barcelona in all competitions, is the historic scorer for the Catalan team and the “La Liga” competition, and is considered the most goal-scoring player with one club in football history (644 goals with Barcelona).
